Abstract New iron(II) coordination compounds with 2,6-bis(4,5-dimethyl-1 H -imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (L) and closo -borate(2–) anions [FeL 2 ]B 10 ⋅2H O 12 ⋅H have been synthesized. The identified studied by CHN analysis, electron spectroscopy (diffuse reflection spectroscopy), IR, Mössbauer, EXAFS spectroscopies, X-ray powder diffraction, static magnetic susceptibility. structures of the knots complexes has obtained modeling spectra. ligand is coordinated ion in a tridentate-cyclic manner two nitrogen atoms imidazole cycles atom pyridine to form FeN 6 knot. study temperature dependence susceptibility range 80–500 K showed that high-temperature spin-crossover 1 А ↔ 5 Т manifests itself compounds.

A spin crossover ferrous complex with ordered magnetic ferric anions.

The first tetrahaloferrate spin crossover compound, [Fe(Metz)(6)](FeBr(4))(2) (Metz = 1-methyltetrazole), is reported. The FeBr(4)(-) ions form ferromagnetically coupled 1D stacks and exhibit an antiferromagnetic order at 2.2 K, which coexists with the gradual spin crossover centred at 165 K.
